Chiropractic Answers the Birthing Process Trauma

There’s been medical research that has shown that 70% of natural, vaginal delivered children have a misalignment at the top of the neck. How could that be? The birthing process itself is traumatic, and so a lot of our children are having trauma from the birthing process itself, and I’ll tell you, in my 25 years, I’ve never had one single child that came in from a cesarean section that was not subluxated, and what that means was there was some trauma induced that caused one of the upper bones of the neck to be pushed out of alignment.

Maybe they don’t have a lot of neck pain. Maybe they don’t have headaches, but if that bone gets even a little bit out of alignment, it can affect other systems of their body. It can create a weakened immune system. We see a lot of chronic ear infections, babies with colic, reflux. It can affect their energy. It can affect their digestion. It can affect how they sleep. It can affect how they breathe. It can affect their immune function, and how they react to the environment with allergies, food allergies.

What we have found is having your children checked as soon as possible, because you don’t know what could’ve happened during the birthing process, you don’t know what the ramifications can show up, because if a bone gets out of line at the top of the neck, that’s the brain stem. That’s the most vital part of the entire body. It’s the switchboard operator between your brain and your heart, your liver, your lungs, your kidneys, your arms, your legs.

And it can actually even create learning disabilities, attention deficit disorders, hyperactivity, because the thought, everything that happens in the brain cycles through the brain stem, so if there’s a misalignment at the top of the neck, then it can interfere with normal brain functions, and we obviously don’t want that for our children. We don’t want that for ourselves. We don’t want that for anyone in our family.

If you know that you or your child has had some sort of birthing trauma, a good idea is, first of all, if it was a C-section, if they used a suction or tongs, pretty good chance. If there were any traumas, hematomas on the head or anything that you can think of that maybe wasn’t quite as smooth as it could’ve been, it’s worthwhile to get them checked. If they were ever a C-section baby, then definitely have them checked.

Both of my kids were C-sections and they both were subluxated during that process. Thank God, I got them checked and adjusted within hours of their delivery. Just if you have any inclination, and maybe there was some sort of a trauma, maybe there was some sort of a pulling on the head or something that could’ve happened, get them checked. We’ll be happy to check them just to see if there may be something going on.

If there is, we’ll explain to you what we need to do to make sure we get it corrected. If there’s not, then hey, at least we’ll know. We’ll rule that out, and if they still have some health issues, then we’re try to find another specialist that we believe that can help them.

Take your child in, your children in to get checked to see if maybe there’s something that could be interfering with their quality of life that could’ve happened during that birthing process. If so, they’ll correct it. You’ll see a change in the child, a change in yourself as the communication starts to open back up between the brain and the body.

Allergies and Breathing Issues Solved By Chiropractic

Recently we’ve had a lot of patients coming in with breathing issues. Asthmas, bronchitis, emphysemas, and I want you to know that if you have a breathing issue that there’s very good likelihood that it could be coming from something going on within you, not necessarily something without you. We’ve had enough patients over our 25 years with all types of breathing disorders that have totally responded from making sure their nervous system was functioning at 100% because you see the nerves that go from the brain go down, they control the bronchiole tubes causing them to open up to dilate or to constrict. They control the lungs; they control your immune function. If a bone’s out of line in the top of the neck, then what it does like stepping on a garden hose, it’ll interfere with the normal messages from the brain telling your lungs, bronchioles, immune functions, what to do and how to do it.

The message gets impeded, like stepping on a garden hose, if it doesn’t get there, let’s say the bronchial tubes for example, and you’re needing more oxygen, your heart needs more oxygen, your body, and so your body’s saying, “Hey, we need more oxygen. Let’s open up to allow more air flow.” Well, you’re trying to breathe but your bronchial tubes don’t get the message. They don’t open up. You don’t get the full amount, full volume of air that you need, so you start to have symptoms of asthma. You start to have symptoms where you can’t breathe like you’re trying to because you can’t get the openings enough.

Now what happens? You take medication, you do inhalers. What that does is that stimulates the nerves that control the bronchial tubes and forces them to open. Well, sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn’t. But if you can naturally make sure that all the communication from your brain to your lungs are 100%, then the likelihood of everything working the way it’s designed to work, when it needs to work, is much higher.

We have a lot of people that have come in that their breathing issues have disappeared because their nervous system function the way it was intended. We’ve had emphysema disappear and their bodies heal up to where they start to now breathe like they’re designed to breathe again. My recommendation is if you have any type of breathing issues, find an upper cervical doctor. Let someone check to see if maybe your breathing problems aren’t coming from a drug deficiency because they don’t normally. It could be coming from something actually going on within your body that’s preventing that part of the body to work the way it’s designed, the way it’s intended to work. Find an upper cervical doctor near you, let them just check you. It usually takes 10 minutes to check to see if maybe there’s some interference between your brain and your body that could be creating your breathing problems. If so, they’ll correct it. They remove the interference. Now all of a sudden, the normal message from the brain gets to the lung, the way it’s designed, things work the way they’re supposed to. It’s really sounds too simple, but it’s really that simple.

Chiropractic Treatment for Neck Spasm

Let’s talk to you about neck spasms or back spasms. Where do muscle spasms come from? What causes a muscle to spasm? First of all, what a spasm is, is when a muscle contracts continuously and doesn’t want to let go. Now, what would cause that? Well, a muscle spasms to protect itself. It’s literally a protective mechanism to try to protect the muscle from tearing.

It has a fear that it’s going to stretch to the point that it’s going to rip or tear apart. What it does is it contracts, and it stays contracted. And if it stays contracted long enough, then we call that a muscle spasm. Now your muscles have a reflex in the muscle itself to protect it. It’s just to keep something from ripping or tearing. The reason that you have spasms is because somewhere in that particular area, there’s a fear that the muscle could tear.

It’s stretched beyond what it should be stretched. Now what would cause that? What happens is, you can have structural shifts in your neck, your upper back, your lower back, and when that happens you lose symmetry. When you lose symmetry, that means one side has to get longer while the other side gets shorter, which means one side’s ultimately going to contract. The other side’s going to stretch.

Now when it stretches, if it stretches to a certain point, then the body, to protect itself, the muscles will start to spasm, and they won’t let go until you can re-approximate. You can make that muscle shorter again. How do you do that? Well, the only way to do that is to restore symmetry. What would cause your body to lose symmetry? Well, what happens is 99% of the time from my experience, is that one of the bones in the upper part of the neck can get out of align. When it does, it will actually take the head with it one way or another.

When it does, the brain then has a reflex called the Righting Reflex that says hey, our brain’s not straight. We have to get the brain straight. Well, when this bone goes out of position and causes that head to tilt, it can’t put it back. It’s stuck. What your body will do is, it will compensate for that head being out of balance. How will it do that? Well, let’s say it went this way. Now as a result it might cause it to drop one shoulder trying to level the head.

Now, the muscles on this side get shorter. The muscles on this side obviously get longer. If they get stretched enough, the body will spasm, and it will start to cause shoulder muscle spasms, neck muscles contract in the spine. You’ll have spasms as a response to that muscle contracting. Now you can work on the muscles, and it might relax a little bit. But it keeps coming back because it’s still stretched. You didn’t fix the underlying cause. The only way to stop the muscles from spasming on a regular basis is to re-approximate the muscle.

How do you do that? Well, you have to go up here, and you have to correct what created the original imbalance, which ended up causing a change in symmetry or loss of symmetry in your body by correcting this bone. If the bone went this way, what you have to do is now you have to bring the head back this way, and now the brain says, hey wait a minute. We’re not level again, now it brings that shoulder back up. Now you have symmetry. Your body, the muscles are the same on each side at the neck. That could be in the back. It could be anywhere in your whole body.

The best thing to do if you have muscle spasms in your neck or back, is to try to find an upper cervical chiropractor to check to see if there’s a loss of symmetry. I tell you what. You can do a test at home. This is the best way to do it. Get in front of mirror and close your eyes. Then turn your head each direction real slow, to the right, to the left. Then bring your head back to center, and now before you open your eyes, I want you to immediately look at your shoulders and look at your ear lobes, okay.

And I want you to look and see now, is one shoulder a little lower? Is one ear a little higher? Now if you want to take it to the next step, if you have a partner or somebody at home that can check you, go lay on the bed on your stomach with your feet hanging off. Put your feet together and see if your feet are the same … if they’re lined up. If your heels are lined up the same or if one’s a little shorter or a little longer than the other, that means you’ve lost some symmetry in your body. Now that only happens in the case of a misalignment at the top of the neck.

Relationship Between Chiropractic and Hearing Loss

Today we want to talk to the relationship between chiropractic and hearing loss, often referred to as eustachian tube dysfunction. What we have found is, that a lot of times when people come to us with hearing loss, they look at the ear, and they see there’s really nothing wrong with the ear. But somehow or another, the message from the ear to the brain is not getting there like it’s supposed to, so we have a degree of hearing loss. Sometimes total, sometimes partial.

The message that goes from the ear to the brain, which records the hearing, it travels across a nerve. The nerve is called the vestibular cochlear nerve. If there is interference to the nerve itself, then the message gets to the ear normally, it’s transmitted via the nerve normally, but somewhere between the nerve and the brain, it gets distorted, which can interfere with the message so that it interferes with the hearing, or the reception or the interpretation that the brain may get.

What we have found is that there is only one place in the body that can actually interfere with that particular message from the ear to the brain, and that’s right up here at the brain stem. That vestibular cochlear nerve is a cranial nerve, which comes off the brain stem, and goes back up into the ear. The message comes from the ear, travels along that nerve, comes out the skull, back to the brainstem down here. If the bone is out of position, say down in here and compressing that brainstem, then like stepping on a garden hose, it can create that eustachian tube dysfunction, or quite simply a lack of hearing, or inability to hear.

We’ve found that if we can find that, and if we can put the bone back in position so that it takes the pressure off the brain stem, stops the interfering with the message from the ear to the brain. It’s kind of like lifting your foot off the garden hose. Then suddenly, the messages start to normalize, and people start to hear again.

Matter of fact, chiropractic was founded when hearing was restored. Harvey Lillard was a janitor who had been deaf for 16 years, and DD Palmer was the guy who founded chiropractic. What he found was a lump up here in the top of his neck, and it was where that bone had moved out of position. He went and pushed on that lump, and the lump went away. Well, on the third day he did that, suddenly Harvey Lillard got his hearing back. So that’s how chiropractic was founded, was that he was able to restore somebody’s hearing, by correcting the position of a bone in the neck.

We have done this for 25 years, at the Upper Cervical Spine Center. We’ve found that people that have a lack of hearing, if they have a misalignment at the top of their neck, that could be the cause. By correcting that misalignment, we can reverse the cause, and the ear can actually start to work as it was intended.

Upper Cervical Chiropractic Treatment for Menopause Symptoms

Let’s talk about menopause. Menopause is a naturally occurring process, usually hits women in their 40s and 50s and there’s no cure for it. Butwhy is it some people have a little easier time than other people? Let’s get to that.

First, what are some common signs, symptoms that you’re going into menopause? First of all, your menstrual cycle basically stops. Then, people often notice they’re a little more tired, fatigued, they’re a little more irritable, they don’t sleep like they used to, they can have hot flashes, night sweats, reduced libido, sex drive, oftentimes they gain weight, sometimes they’re hair can start to come out, even get to where they have anxiety and depression.

Now, some people buzz through this whole process pretty smoothly, without a whole lot of crazy side effects. You get a few here and there, but some people really, really, really have a tough time with it. Why is that? Why is it that it’s easier for one person than another person? Well, what we have found is that the nervous system still runs this whole process. It’s going to happen, right? There’s no cure for menopause, but to make it the best that it can possibly be it means your body needs to be able to function at its best potential. The better your body works, the better you can go through this process without having the side effects as being as severe as someone who isn’t functioning at their optimal level.

What does that mean? What controls every function in your body? Well, it’s the nervous system. The nervous system controls your menopausal process. It controls your hormones, your hormone production, so sometimes people go into early menopause just because their nervous system isn’t working like it’s supposed to, so the hormones aren’t producing like they’re supposed to. Sometimes menopause is drawn out over many, many, many years and sometimes it can be gone through in a short period of time based off how your body is processing and functioning.  If your nervous system’s functioning at 100%, then your body’s going to be able to make it through the menopausal process as optimally, as quickly, as efficiently as it could.

Your body doesn’t want these side effects. It doesn’t want to make you feel bad. It doesn’t want to hurt. It doesn’t want to get not enough sleep. If your nervous system is at its optimal level, your body’s going to be able to ease through the process as quickly, as smoothly, as few symptoms as possible. Find an upper cervical chiropractor. They focus all their energy on making sure that your nervous system is 100% communicating from your brain to your body, which includes your reproduction systems, your ovaries, your uterus, and then that way your body can work through the menopausal process as quickly, efficiently as possible, leaving you feeling better. We have tons of menopausal patients that have come in for a variety of reasons, some just for that, some for other things, and they have found that their symptoms calm down. Their night sweats calm down. They sleep better. Their energy’s better.

We have digital equipment that can pinpoint where the problem is, if there is one, and then we’ll explain to you exactly what we need to do to try to correct it. First visit we never charge for the consultation to find out what your needs are, and then if there is a problem, we’ll discuss that and what we need to do to fix that. If there’s not a problem, hey, at least you can check that off your list. Now you know your body’s functioning at its optimal level.

Chiropractic Treatment for Disc Bulge or Herniation

What happens in the case of a disc bulge? This could be a disc bulge in the neck, it could be a disc bulge in the back. What happens is, is if you look at the inner side of the disc, right, here’s a vertebra, and then between each vertebra there’s this little cartilage pad that is referred to as the disc. Well, inside the disc we have these annular fibers which are hard cartilage type material, and then inside of that there’s this little gel. It’s kind of like a big jelly donut. That gel surface actually serves as the fulcrum. When you have the bones on top of each other, that gives the ability for those bones to move around that particular fulcrum.

Now, the way discs are designed, they’re designed for you to last you about 125 years. Now, that’s with everything being the way it should. Now, what could cause a disc to start to herniate, to start to bulge? Well, it’s abnormal force.  Now, what that means is abnormal stress in your spine. Your spine is designed to have a good curve forward, backwards, forward through the spine. Those curves give you some flex, right, some give, some shock absorbency.

We have this gravity pushing down on us constantly. At the top, we’ve got this big bowling ball that sets up here on top of this little, skinny neck, so that curve is very important. Throughout your whole spine, it gets heavier as you go down, which means it supports more and more weigh, which is why you’ll see the bones get bigger and the discs get bigger to help support the extra weight. But those curves are very important to give us some give.  Now, what happens is, if something alters the curve where we see the spine now instead of having that give, it starts to do this. Well, now there’s no give in the spine, so something has to give. What gives is the softest tissue in the area, which is the disc. It starts to get compressed.

Then that little gel nucleus starts to bulge or starts to squeeze out to one side. It’s kind of like you have a jelly donut, and you start to put abnormal stress on it, eventually that gel starts to go to the area of least resistance, or whichever way it’s squeezed the most. Here is a little further down the road. You can see now the gel is represented by the red, and you see how it’s starting to kind of edge out towards one side, which in turn creates the bulge.  Now, what happens with this bulge? Well, over time it can start to affect the nerves that come down in the neck, which come down the arm, go down to the hand, can cause pain, numbness, tingling in the hands, can cause carpal tunnel, can cause pain in the shoulder, in the neck.

In the lower back it can cause pain down the leg, like sciatica. Pain down the front of the leg can cause pain, numbness, tingling in the toes and in the feet. What traditional medical care would do in this particular case is first they might go in and try to give you some medications to try to numb the pain. Maybe they’ll do a shot, again to try to kill the nerve endings around it so you don’t feel it, but that still leaves the disc bulge. If left alone, eventually it’ll get worse to the point where they’ll typically go in and maybe they’ll shave off the outer edge of the disc, so it doesn’t hit on the nerve. Well, what that’s going to do is it’s actually going to weaken that space there and give you less annular fibers between the gel nucleus and the outer edge of the disc, which ultimately could lead to a rupture.

Because eventually if the disc gets to the point where it actually squeezes all the way through and comes out through the annular fibers, then the disc particles will be in the nerve canal or in the spinal canal, and the only way then to get that out is, obviously, surgically remove it.  You want to start with the least invasive procedure. If you have a herniated disc in your neck or in your back, what we have to do is we have to take the stress off the disc. We have to try to bring the curve back in your spine so that we stop doing this and start to bring this back so that we get some give, and we create balance in the spine so that the bones now start to realign themselves.

What happens is now this starts to wedge back to where it should so the disc can suck back inside the annular fibers and then no longer put the pressure on the nerves going down the arms, down the legs, creating the neck and the back pain. If you have a herniated disc, a bulging disc, pretty much the same thing, try to find an upper cervical doctor near you. Find out what’s actually causing the disc, okay? Because I can guarantee you don’t have a drug deficiency, so taking pain pills isn’t going to fix it. And you don’t have too many body parts, so cutting stuff out, especially the edges of that disc, are not going to fix it. But if we can get your body balanced, bring the curve back in your spine, take the stress off of the lower discs in your neck and your back, then the disc can level itself back out, the herniation or the bulge can suck back underneath that vertebra where it’s supposed to be, and then the pain can go away and it can stay away.

You don’t have to keep chasing it with medications trying to numb it.  If you have a herniated disc, if you have a bulging disc or some pain down the arm, in the shoulders, in the back, find an upper cervical doctor near youWe never charge for the consultation to see what your needs are. If it’s something we can help you with, like a herniated or bulging disc, then we’ll explain to you what we need to do to try to fix it. If it’s not something we think we can help, then we’ll find another specialist that we think can help you.

Upper Cervical Chiropractic Treatment for Kids

A lot of times we have new patients that come into the office, and they see there’s always a lot of kids here. Families come in to get checked, they bring their kids, and so new patients are sometimes asking me, “Why are there so many kids here? What can you do for kids?” And I’m like, “Well, what better time to get checked than when you’re young rather than waiting, like most adults do, 20, 30, 40 years after the initial problem started?”

So now we have like 20, 30, 40 to regress to try to allow your body to heal. Why not start right out the gate and make sure that their body’s aligned, that their nervous system’s functioning at 100 percent, to make sure that they grow straight and healthy? What are some common pediatric conditions that Upper Cervical Chiropractic can help? Well, I’ll tell you what, ear infections, phenomenal.  People come in, usually within a few adjustments, ear infections clear up.

People with babies with colic, with sleep problems, with allergies, asthma. As they get a little bit older, we see a lot of kids that have sinus problems, weakened immune systems, we get a lot of colds and flus, digestive disorders, asthma, like we said, allergies. The nervous system controls every function in your body. And I think, where I see the biggest changes, kids with attention deficit disorders, ADHDs, dyslexia, learning disabilities. We have letters written to us from teachers, from principals, about how they see the change in the kid once they’ve started care because what happens is, the way the brain operates is the brain travels. When you have a thought, you have a memory, you have emotions, it all travels from the brain to the brainstem, which is the top of the neck, back to the brain in a circuit. When kids are studying, when they’re learning, when they’re concentrating, paying attention, it all travels. But at the top of the neck, the upper cervical spine, if one of the bones gets out of align there, it can interfere with those processes. It can make it harder for kids to learn, to concentrate. It can make it harder for them to pay attention, make them easily distracted. If we find that there’s a problem at the upper part of the neck and we can correct it, what we’ve found is their brain works better.

They pay better attention, they do better in school. Now, at the same time, the immune system is entirely controlled by the nervous system, specifically the area of the brain stem, again, the top of the neck. If you keep their nervous system functioning at 100 percent, then they’re going to be stronger at fighting off colds and flus and even reacting to the environment in cases of allergies and asthmas.  The primary reason we see pediatric, little kids, babies, in our office is not just to help them get well, but most importantly to help them stay well. If you have kids, what better gift could you give them than the gift of health, where you know their brain’s functioning at 100 percent, where you know their body’s functioning at 100 percent.

The better their body functions, the better they’re going to perform, whether that’s in school, whether that’s in life, whether that’s in a family. Make sure that you have your kids checked. Give them the best opportunity they can have to live the best life they can have. Now, if we can keep their nervous system functioning at 100 percent, what more can you offer a child? What more could you offer yourself? Get checked. See if there’s something that could be interfering with your body’s natural ability to heal, with your brain processes, with every function in your body.

Maximize your potential and your child’s. Call an upper cervical doctor, find one near you.

What Kind of Conditions Upper Cervical Chiropractor Doctors Treat?

We are often asked, “What kind of conditions, what kind of ailments do Upper Cervical Chiropractors treat?” Well, that’s a good question. Actually, we don’t treat any ailments.  We don’t treat conditions, because what we want to do is correct the underlying cause of the health problem, not necessarily treat the condition itself.

To treat a condition is basically to treat the symptoms. What we do is, we treat the patient. We want to maximize whatever your full potential is, to make sure that your body can function as its optimal level. Now, as that happens, a lot of times patients come into us with a wide range of conditions that respond really well to what we do, but we’re not treating the conditions. We don’t treat fibromyalgia, we don’t treat multiple sclerosis, or diabetes, or digestive disorders. We don’t even treat neck pain and back pain. What we do is we check the body out to see if there’s some underlying problem, a cause that could, as a result, lead to a wide range of conditions. Then, if there is, we correct the cause, allowing the body to actually do the healing.

No Doctor has ever healed anyone in the history of mankind. All healing comes from within. People that treat conditions are actually just treating the symptoms, which usually mean they’re eventually going to come back. What we want to do is find out if there’s a problem within your body. If there is, if we can correct it, we don’t change what we’re doing based off of your particular symptom or condition. We do the same thing for every person, it just so happens that your cause may be creating one condition, while the same cause in somebody else may be creating a different type of symptom, or disease process. At the Upper Cervical Spine Center, we’re not going to treat you for your condition.

We’re going to treat you for you. We’re going to make sure that your body’s lined up perfectly, that your nervous system’s functioning at its optimal potential, because the nervous system is what actually heals you.  Interference to the nervous system is what creates these problems. If we can maximize your potential, get the nervous system functioning fully at 100%, then your body’s going to work like it’s supposed to, the way it’s designed to. In the process, we often see these types of conditions or symptoms to start to disappear. Get to an Upper Cervical Doctor, just let them check you. At the very least, maybe you can prevent developing conditions like this.

Scoliosis and Chiropractic Treatment

Today, I want to talk to you about scoliosis. You’re probably familiar with the term scoliosis. It’s basically a curvature from side to side through the spine. A traditional medical approach is they have a brace, Milwaukee brace. You wear it for oftentimes many years. It’s very uncomfortable, puts a lot of abnormal stress on the spine, and the idea is it’s trying to force the spine and try to level itself out. The results on this Milwaukee brace are not that great. Most invasive is surgical Harrington rods where they basically go in and run steel rods up the spine and tie it around the spine to force the spine to move back, which again, obviously, can’t be very comfortable for the patient. At the same time, you lose all your mobility because you have these steel rods running down.

What we have experienced is almost 100% of the time scoliosis actually comes from the upper part of the neck.  Imagine a flower trying to get to the sun. Your spine tries to keep the head level at all times. This is what we have found is that if one of the bones in the upper part of the neck get out of position the head that sits on top of those bones   Anywhere those bones go the head goes with it. If the bone moves to the left in this example, looking behind this person it forces the head to go with it. It doesn’t have any choice because the head just sits on top of that bone. It got misaligned. It could have been the birthing process. It could have been a fall, an injury, a sports injury, car accident … there’s many common ways that this bone can move.

What happens is it takes the bone to the right or left, taking the head with it, and the brain doesn’t like it. The body will try to balance the brain, bending and contorting itself until it levels the head. Many times, that’s why those with scoliosis often have a low shoulder. They’ll often have a high hip, and they’ll have one leg shorter than the other. The difference between this in an adult versus when it happens while you’re still growing is, in an adult, what will happen is you will just have the low shoulder high hip, short leg, and as a result you could end up with neck pain, back pain, hip pain, leg pain, foot pain, etc. If this happens while the spine is still growing what will happen is it will actually grow in a curved fashion in an attempt to bring the head back to level.

If we can catch the scoliosis while you’re still growing, or while the child is still growing, then if we can correct it a lot of times.  What will happen is as it continues to grow it will straighten out, but if it’s after the fact.  If you’re an adult and your spine is already completely finished growing what you need to do is still maximize whatever potential is there. Will you ever have a perfectly straight spine again? Probably not, but there’s a really good chance that you can take most of the stress out of the spine by keeping the body as balanced as possible and that means correcting whatever initially started the curve in the spine by getting the head finally leveled back out. That’s going to take a lot of the tension, a lot of the muscle that are tight and contracted that are creating a lot of muscular skeletal problems, it’s going to take that extra stress out, keeping the body balanced, down in the lower back and the legs level and that’s going to allow the spine to be as erect as possible, as straight as possible. Whatever potential’s there we can maximize.

If you’ve had scoliosis or if you have a child with scoliosis, most importantly, get them checked by an upper cervical doctor. Find out if there’s something wrong at the top of the neck that could have created the scoliosis. Most of the time that’s the case. If we can correct that maybe there’s still a chance we can reduce or even completely take out the curve in the spine. If you’re an adult, we can still maximize what potential is there. Make you feel as good as you possibly can, which I’ve had people come in with 43-degree curves that can completely be asymptomatic, live a perfectly normal life, have no back pain, no discomfort and be as active as they want to be.

What Are Headaches and Migraine Headaches

Today I want to talk to you about something that we see in our office daily, and that’s headaches and migraine headaches. If you have headaches, you have migraines, I’m sure it’s preventing you from being able to be the person that you want to be. It’s probably interfering with your work schedule, with your home life, with being a good husband or wife, or even a good mother or father.

What we have found so many times with these people that have migraines, it’s maybe once a month, maybe it’s once a week, sometimes it’s once a day that’s interfering with their life, is that there’s a problem going on the inside. If you take a medication, what does medication do? Do you think those headaches come from a Tylenol deficiency or a lack of Imitrex? No. Those drugs are only going to temporarily mask the problem for them to continue and start to come back.

What we have found is the problem starts on the inside. It’s something going on specifically at the top of the neck, the upper cervical spine, and what we found is if one of these bones up here at the very top of the neck get interfered with then it does two things. It can put pressure on the brain stem. The brain stem comes out of the head down to the top two bones then the spinal cord the rest of the way down. If it puts pressure on the brain stem that can interfere with the normal communication from the brain to the body and can create stress in the upper part of the neck, which can ultimately create neck pain or not and ultimately lead to tension headaches.

Now at the same time when that bone misaligns, it can actually interfere with blood flow to the brain, which can result in the symptoms that go along with migraines, the lack of blood flow to the brain creates the aura, the blood vessels get inflamed, get irritated. What I would suggest you do is have someone check to see if you have a problem at the top of your neck that could be creating your headaches or your migraines, and at the Upper Cervical Spine Center that’s our specialty.

We focus all our attention on this part of the body because it’s so vital to everything else that when that bone gets misaligned, and it causes the interference, it can create havoc on the whole body, so if you have headaches, if you have migraines, give our office a call. Let’s find out where those migraines are coming from and see what we can do to help you. Hope you have a great day.
