How Does Upper Cervical Care Treat Migraine Headaches?

Are you one of those people who have suffered a migraine in their whole life? Then don’t worry because you’ll get to know every detail about your situation here.

There are a lot of people who have migraine headaches either acute or chronic, but they do not know the cause behind it neither they know the actual remedy to get rid of this uncomfortable and annoying headache.

The best you can do to yourself is just going for upper cervical care. The reason is that migraine headache is always due to the misalignment in the upper two bones in the neck region. If these two bones are being corrected your life will be a whole different thing.

Migraine headache is one of the worst conditions that patients suffer due to the misalignment in their upper cervical. Without wasting time on high-capacity drugs, having side effects, go for upper cervical help to pacify your migraine headaches.

Migraine headache

Migraine is a neurovascular headache and a neurological disorder. It is because of the abnormalities in certain transmitters or levels of the neurotransmitters in the blood that cause the dilatation of the blood vessels that result in a throbbing headache. Migraine headaches are considered the leading cause of disability.

This abnormality affects the communication of the nervous system badly. Migraine headache is the 3rd most prevalent illness in the world. This headache can be moderate and severe and last for four to 72 hours.

Migraine attacks can affect a person’s ability to perform everyday tasks properly thus create hindrance in person’s socioeconomic lifestyle.

The person may suffer an aura before the onset of throbbing head pain, and it is called a migraine with aura. Various kinds of migraine headaches with aura are:

  • Migraine with or without aura
  • Hemiplegic migraine
  • Retinal migraine
  • Migraine with brainstem aura

The symptoms of migraine headaches are:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Numbness and tingling in the face, legs, and arms
  • Sensitivity to light, touch, and smell
  • Sensitivity to sound
  • Blurred vision
  • Pulsating pain on one side of the head
  • Dizziness
  • Lack of consciousness
  • Distorted speech
  • Confusion
  • Lack of concentration

Misalignment in the upper cervical region

Due to different causes, there happens a misalignment in the upper two bones of the neck region that worsens the brain functioning and normal life of a person. When there is a distortion in the nervous system’s communication that will cause different neurological disorders and one of them is migraine headaches.

The upper cervical evaluation is the ultimate solution to live a happy and healthy life.

Upper cervical care

The chiropractors focus on upper cervical care when the problem is arising from the two upper bones of the neck that are atlas and axis. These bones work as a junction between the brainstem and the spinal cord of the nervous system.

Thus, the important and concerning point here is that a little misalignment in these bones can affect the communication to and from the brain.

Thus, the chiropractors with their hands and specific tools align and correct the positioning and the patients live a normal life without any stress and strain.

Migraine headache is a crippling illness that eventually renders a threat to the normal life functioning of the person. However, if one wants a solution once and for all, then one must seek upper cervical care to pacify the migraine headaches.

The chiropractors first determine the area where the problem lies and then with gentle methods correct the position of those bones and body starts using its restorative powers that heal the damages that have been done and let the bones in place.

Continuous upper cervical care helps the person in avoiding all future terrible situations relating to upper cervical misalignment problems.

Upper cervical care is a very gentle and non-manipulative technique that focuses on the head related to the neck and how that affects the health of your entire spine and thus the health of your body.

This method of correcting the alignment of bones consists of a few sessions and in every session of adjustment, the patients feel the pain running away.

Studies showing upper cervical care pacifying migraine headaches

Research is done in Australia where they looked at 127 people suffering from migraine headaches, and they compared two months of chiropractic care versus two months of no chiropractic care. Afterward, they measured migraine frequency and duration, the pain scale, and also medication intake.

Consequently, what they found was that the people under upper cervical chiropractic had way better results with the migraine headaches frequency, the duration, and the pain scale as compared to the people with no chiropractic care.

In 2015 a study was held where the chiropractors took 18 patients from neurologists with chronic and frequent migraines. However, 18 of them were diagnosed while 11 of them were actually included in the observational study.

Resultantly, after 8 weeks of upper cervical care what they found was that those 11 people, their migraine headaches reduced in frequency and had a better quality of life. Thus, the scale of pain was also less.

Interesting research shows that 92% of the people who suffer migraine headaches were able to pacify their migraines with the help of upper cervical chiropractic care.

Conclusion

Thus, getting your upper neck corrected can help drastically reduce some of these severe neurological conditions that people suffer from all the time. Thus, if you suffer frequent migraine headaches, just seek help from upper cervical chiropractors.

The reason behind the upper cervical care is many folds as it will help you in the long run and it also keeps your bones aligned doesn’t matter what. According to studies people with migraines now prefer to seek the help of upper cervical care rather than consuming high-capacity medicines.

Upper cervical care is a spinal correction technique that helps in relieving migraines by releasing strain and pressure from the nervous system and alleviating the positioning of the atlas vertebrae. This method of care also protects the patients from drug usage and its side effects.

Everything You Need to Know About Migraines

I want to talk to you about migraines. I am sure everyone knows what a migraine is, but maybe you don’t know all the symptoms that could go with a migraine. Everyone knows that migraine is a severe headache, but a lot of times these people experience things called auras, which are visual disturbances. Sometimes, people experience light sensitivity, sound sensitivity, so bright lights, and loud noises really bother them. People have vertigo attacks. People get nauseous and throw up. It is a really, really debilitating condition. The worst part about it is that most people who suffer from migraines suffer from them on a day-to-day basis.

Unfortunately, the health community doesn’t really know how to treat these migraines. A lot of times painkillers are involved, and even anti-anxiety and anti-depressants are prescribed to try to better deal with vertigo attacks.

What can we do with upper cervical care to help these people with migraines? We see migraines every single day. People who deal with migraines in our office come to find out they get relief quickly.

Let’s talk about what happens between the brain and the heart and why migraines occur.

In a normal human being, the brain needs oxygen constantly. However, when the brain is not getting enough oxygen, it tells the heart, “Hey, I need more oxygen, so you need to pump more blood up to me.”

It is important to note that the brain controls every blood vessel in our body. It tells our arteries when to dilate and when to constrict, or open and close. Normally, when the heart is pumping more blood up to the brain, so the brain can get this oxygen, the brain tells the blood vessels to dilate – the blood gets up to the brain and everything is good. However, when people suffer from migraines, the brain is not communicating to the body as it should, and that includes the blood vessels, like the arteries.

When the heart is pumping blood up to the brain and the brain is not controlling the dilation of the arteries, those arteries stay constricted. Now, you have all this blood pumping up against the arteries, which causes inflammation and irritation of those arteries. On top of that, the brain is still not getting enough oxygen, which attributes to the auras, light sensitivity, sound sensitivity, nausea; all because the brain is not getting enough oxygen.

That is how migraines work. That is why with upper cervical care, we see unbelievable results with migraine relief because we can take the pressure off of the brainstem and allow the brain to communicate with the heart as it should. This allows those blood vessels to dilate to get the blood back up to the brain, and everything works just like it should without any neurological issues and without any pain.

Migraine and Headaches Clinic

Most people do not realize that the Upper Cervical Spine Center is known as a headache and migraine specialist. We have people come here from all over the world to get under upper cervical care. How does a bone in the top of the neck, being the upper cervical spine, affect migraines? Well, it is very simple. If one of the bones in the upper part of the neck gets out of alignment, it does two things. It can affect the blood flow from the brain to the body, or from the body to the brain. It also affects the nervous system, specifically the brainstem. There are no nerves that come off of the brain, so all the nerves that innervate your head, face, and neck, including your vision, taste, smell, hearing, muscles in the face, and sensory functions all come from the neck, or the brainstem, through the top two bones, called the upper cervical spine. These nerves go back up into the head, face, and neck, as well as the blood vessels that supply blood to the brain.

If the brain says, “Hey, I need more blood flow!” the heart rate speeds up and raises your blood pressure to push the blood from your heart up into the brain through those blood vessels. The nerves that control the blood vessels come off of the brainstem and they force the blood vessels to open (dilate), or close (constrict). If the nerves do not send the message to the blood vessels to dilate, as they should to allow increased blood flow to get to the brain, then that lack of blood flow creates the symptoms of a migraine. The blood flow trying to get through those contracted blood vessels will cause the blood vessels to get inflamed and irritated, creating most of the pain. The lack of blood flow creates the auras and the other symptoms that go along with migraines.

If the bones are out alignment in the neck and it interferes with the messages to the blood vessels, it can create migraines. At the Upper Cervical Spine Center, we only use a natural approach. We do not put anything in the body. We do not take anything out of the body. We do not try to cover up the symptoms. We want to get to the root cause of the problem and correct that cause so that the migraines not only go away, but they stay away and do not reoccur.

You could take all the drugs you want – your Imitrex, your Excedrin Migraine, whatever it may be, but it is never going to fix it because the migraines do not come from a drug deficiency. Taking drugs might mask it, but it’s not going to take care of the problem. It’s going to keep coming… again, and again, and again, and, unfortunately, long-term migraine sufferers are actually at a much higher risk for a stroke! How does that happen? If you cut off blood supply to the brain long enough, part of that brain will starve to the point of an eventual stroke. The brain starves because it lacks enough oxygen. Those brain cells will start to die.

What Are Headaches and Migraine Headaches

Today I want to talk to you about something that we see in our office daily, and that’s headaches and migraine headaches. If you have headaches, you have migraines, I’m sure it’s preventing you from being able to be the person that you want to be. It’s probably interfering with your work schedule, with your home life, with being a good husband or wife, or even a good mother or father.

What we have found so many times with these people that have migraines, it’s maybe once a month, maybe it’s once a week, sometimes it’s once a day that’s interfering with their life, is that there’s a problem going on the inside. If you take a medication, what does medication do? Do you think those headaches come from a Tylenol deficiency or a lack of Imitrex? No. Those drugs are only going to temporarily mask the problem for them to continue and start to come back.

What we have found is the problem starts on the inside. It’s something going on specifically at the top of the neck, the upper cervical spine, and what we found is if one of these bones up here at the very top of the neck get interfered with then it does two things. It can put pressure on the brain stem. The brain stem comes out of the head down to the top two bones then the spinal cord the rest of the way down. If it puts pressure on the brain stem that can interfere with the normal communication from the brain to the body and can create stress in the upper part of the neck, which can ultimately create neck pain or not and ultimately lead to tension headaches.

Now at the same time when that bone misaligns, it can actually interfere with blood flow to the brain, which can result in the symptoms that go along with migraines, the lack of blood flow to the brain creates the aura, the blood vessels get inflamed, get irritated. What I would suggest you do is have someone check to see if you have a problem at the top of your neck that could be creating your headaches or your migraines, and at the Upper Cervical Spine Center that’s our specialty.

We focus all our attention on this part of the body because it’s so vital to everything else that when that bone gets misaligned, and it causes the interference, it can create havoc on the whole body, so if you have headaches, if you have migraines, give our office a call. Let’s find out where those migraines are coming from and see what we can do to help you. Hope you have a great day.
